The Internet is a scary place for kids. If not properly supervised, it can be like Alice in Wonderland falling into the rabbit hole.

Inappropriate content is just a click away. Sites that specialize in sexual content and pornography even have suggestive content on their warning pages.

There are many programs that you can use to block your children from sites that someone else thinks are inappropriate—but what do you think. Do you agree with them on what is appro-priate or not?

Ask yourself this question:

Have you been a good parent by just blocking your kids from going to inappropriate sites or should you be doing more? Should you be analyzing the sites that your child is trying to go to and talking with them?

We think so.

At Forensic IT, we do not feel comfortable controlling content—that is your job as a parent. We feel that our job is to show you what that content is in an easy to read and understand format. Most parents have fallen into a false sense of security by having sites blocked and not having (or even avoiding) the conversation with their kids. In fact, parents that have content blocking software have no idea what sites there kids are even trying to go to.

Parents that we have talked to about what their kids do online have said:

  • “I have no idea how to tell what sites they tried to go to.”
  • “We are not sure if what we have is block-ing everything—we hope so.”
  • “I am too stupid to figure it out.”

Wow! Talk about avoiding a potential problem. The avoidance is due to the parents not understanding how the internet works or how to look at it.
WatchfulEye can help. It works at the network level and not at the browser level. Therefore, regardless of what browser is used, WatchfulEye will capture the traffic and report it back to you in the same format regardless of what program accesses the internet--even if your resourceful teenager is smart enough to write their own!

The design of WatchfulEye is simple—it captures and displays all internet traf-fic from ANY browser or program. It is able to do this because it "watches" the traffic on the network and decodes the packets to extract any HTTP (Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol) conversations. HTTP is the primary protocol used to transfer data on the internet.

We only report the sites and content such as movies, pictures, etc. No personal content is ever decoded, stored, or transmitted.

Similar programs such as NetNanny ($39 US) or KidBrowser help to protect kids from inap-propriate content but require configuration and administration on the parents part. They work for most kids, but the internet savvy kids just download different browsers (here are literally dozens) that are not monitored by these programs. Our design protects against this by operating on a lower level that cannot be bypassed—and did we mention that it is FREE.

We want your input. Our goal is to give the full benefit of the internet to kids while at the same time helping parents be better parents.

We put the control back into the hands of the parents to understand what is happening online so that they can talk to their kids about what they are view-ing.

Parents are afraid of the internet because they do not know how it works and never really feel like their home networks are protected and secure.

We will show you the anatomy of a network and the anatomy of a browser based internet connection in a very easily understood format.  Even if you don’t understand it, rest assured that WatcfulEye can capture it.

The best part of WatchfulEye is that it will help parents be better parents and not be scared by the technology of the internet. The second best part is that it is FREE.
